Jack served on several Ships, but upon the sinking of the HMS Aircraft Carrier Ark Royal of which he gratefully survived but this led to his medical discharge from the Royal Navy. Not
to be detered he then signed up with the Army and upon completing his training served with
the Army in Italy, Egypt & North Africa wearing the badge of the Royal Army Service Corps
