Son of Nathan TAYLOR and Mary TAYLOR (formerly HANKINSON)
of Hollinfare, later Cadishead, Lancashire
14th Battalion Highland Light Infantry was in
120th Brigade, 40th Division on 26th November 1917.
On the 23rd - 25th November, the Division attacked Bourlon area,
resulting in John making the supreme sacrifice
Three companies of  the 14th Battalion Highland Light Infantry miraculously penetrated to the far side of Bourlon, but were cut off and gradually annihilated, leaving only the remnants of  HQ Company.
